Welcome to Charlie Lovett's new blog

Well here I am. I've been a playwright and a novelist; I've written academic treatises and reference books; I've earned my MFA in writing and published stories and poems. But now I must really be a writer . . . because now I have a blog. If you've found this blog on Pioneer Drama's website, you probably know me through my children's plays. I'll be talking a lot about writing and producing plays for and with children on this blog, but I'll also be sharing with you the life of a writer. For instance, here's what happened this week:

1) I heard that a short story of mine, written ten years ago during graduate school, will be published in a college literary journal.

2) I received payment for a contribution I made to a national periodical.

3) I technical directed a production of my play Twinderella, directed by my wife.

4) I watched a rehearsal of Twinderella the Musical choreographed by my daughter, a college sophomore.

And that's just in the last five days. Tomorrow and Friday I'll finish going over the edited manuscript of my latest book—the 75th anniversary history of the school where I work. Plus I'm being interviewed by two ninth graders who are interested in becoming writers. So, as you can see, the writer's life can be pretty busy.

Please drop me an e-mail if there is a topic you'd like for me to discuss on these pages. You can contact me through my website (the link is below). Now that you know a little bit about me, you might come up with some great ideas. To learn more about me and my plays and books, and to find study guides for my Pioneer plays check out my website (www.charlielovett.com).

Until next time, thanks for reading.
