Rachel Davidson is a phenomenal writer when it comes to melodramas. She has written quite a few melodramas in her career. We have been fortunate to publish three of them! She gave me a call today and asked me how her CORNFIELD OF DREAMS was doing. I was pleased (and excited) to tell her that CORNFIELD OF DREAMS has “taken off.” After being on the market for only a few months, it has close to ten productions.  It has been done in a number of elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and community theatres.

Perhaps one of the special things about Rachel and this play is that this incredible woman wanted to donate high percentage of her royalties of the show to the United Way Midwest Flood Recovery Fund. The fund was created when, due to harsh rain, numerous states were flooded. As the United Way says, “What took the floods just a few days to destroy will take years to rebuild.”

Rachel and I discussed what a tough time this must be for the area. With other natural disasters taking place in the United States, as well as the current economic crisis, this area must have been forgotten. However, Rachel and I hope that the play will be done a lot more. It’s not just there to help bring numerous communities together when putting on a play, but it’s also a way people around the world can help rebuild a special part of the United States.
